Yiddish dates back to the 10th/11th century. Spoken primarily by Ashkenazi Jews first in France and Germany. Began as a German diaect and incorporated Hebrew/Aramaic/Slavic/Romance elements. Hebrew dates back at least 3000 years. Remains the sacred language of Judaism and today is the modern vernacular of the state of Israel which just celebrated its 60th birthday - mazel tov!
