Oh yeah,..forgot to mention,...my grandparents could read, write and converse fluently in Polish, German, Yiddish and English. However,..my grandmother could not write in English and she didn't learn. And,..of course,..it wasn't necessary to write in the other languages. I believe my grandfather "scratched his way through".
