Before the Cross Bronx, the trucks we see on the highway used to have to get off in Manhattan, go up Broadway into the Bronx via the 207th Street Bridge, and across Fordham Road. Imagine that TODAY???? Moses did, indeed, get a lot of grief for building a lot of things, but most, if not all, of those things were literally on the drawing board before Moses came along. All he did was execute the ideas of others. It's easy to castigate Robert Moses today, while lounging around at JONES BEACH and ORCHARD BEACH (both of which he built) or while taking one of the many parkways out to and on Long Island via the Throgg's Neck or Whitestone Bridge. As Ed Koch used to say, "It all depends on whose ox is being gored".
