Influenced by demonstration

A child was hit by a car on West Tremont Avenue and the parents
and residents of our building wanted a light. They went the legal
route. Finally they all stood in the middle of the street to
protest..imagine, this was about 1951. They stopped the traffic.
They got publicity. They were arrested though no one spent the
night in jail. Evenually they got a yellow caution light.
I grew up. Worked with civil rights groups for years. I believe
my thoughts about how I look at the world was influenced by that
day where my parents stood up and peacefully protested.
