To keep The Bronx Board up-to-date and relatively quick to display, it's absolutely necessary to remove messages older than a specific date. The explosive growth of the board has dictated a relatively short "lifespan" for messages, often as little as two or three days. These postings are not deleted, but placed in separate "archives" by month. In other words, all the postings from January are in one archive. All of February's are in another, and so on.

Can I See What's In The Archives?

Absolutely - that's what this web page is for. Use this search tool to find specific words, phrases, names, etc. in the archived postings.

How Do I Use This Search Tool?

You must provide search criteria using the entry and list boxes as follows:

Search This Archive:: You may only search one month at a time. Select which archive month you want.

Text to Search For:

Enter whatever words, names, dates, etc. that you're looking for, separated by space. For example: gun hill road

Multiple Search Terms:

When you provide multiple search terms, you must indicate if you want to search for any or all of the terms Using the same example, if I select "find messages that contain ALL of the terms", then the tool will look for postings that contain all three words ("gun" and "hill" and "road").

Case Insensitivity or Sensitivity:

If you select Search should NOT CARE about upper or lower case, then the tool will try to find matches regardless of what case (upper or lower) you used. If you select MATCH EXACTLY by case, then it will only look for exact matches "to the letter". Using my example, if I selected "NOT CARE...", then it would find a match on "Gun Hill Road" even though I entered all lower case.

Once you've set up your search criteria, press the Search! button. A list of all posts that meet your criteria will be displayed.

What Do I Do With The Results List?

Click on any topic listed, and the message will be displayed.
